Economic impact

World-class events and festivals are a driving force in the Canadian economy. In FY'24, C-Tribe's total economic impact reached $1.8M — up from $386K the previous year — with more than 154 hotel and Airbnb nights booked in Edmonton. For every $1 invested by the city, C-Tribe generated $10.98 in direct revenue, up from $6.90 in 2023.

  • $440,820 in direct economic impact from sponsors, exhibitors, and attendees.
  • $172,204 in operational impact from year-round staffing and contractors.
  • $999,600 in consumer impact from attendee spending across Edmonton.
  • $88,164 in indirect and induced economic effects on surrounding businesses.

Social and cultural impact

C-Tribe adds to the vitality of the communities where it operates. In FY'24, the festival demonstrated social and cultural impact across three dimensions:

  • Increasing regional visibility — the festival attracted visitors and built the image of Edmonton across diverse communities.
  • Creating opportunities for engagement — socialization, entertainment, and the establishment of social networks enhanced community cohesion across demographics.
  • Showcasing the city and encouraging collisions — across 8 venues, C-Tribe provided opportunities for locals and visitors to interact with the host community and experience the local economy.

  • 54 hours of dedicated programming across 6 festival days.
  • 50 speakers and 25 performers featured during the festival.
  • 46 partners collaborated with, up from 37 in 2023.
  • 31 influencers and content creators engaged, up from 0 in 2023.
  • 71% of attendees identified as Millennial or Gen Z.
  • 31% of attendees identified as African, Caribbean, or Black heritage.

Impact priorities

  • Increase exposure for diverse creators, founders, and professionals through public festival platforms.
  • Create more pathways for communities to meet collaborators, employers, investors, mentors, and audiences.
  • Strengthen the regions where we operate as meeting points for innovation, culture, and commerce.
  • Build a festival ecosystem where each vertical speaks directly to a distinct community while reinforcing the larger nonprofit mission.
